The following funny struck a chord (voiced of course) with myself and many others when it went live last week.

Most of us who are teachers have experienced both sides of this situation. Some teachers feel that we should not allow this to happen. I try to guide each student by ask questions about what they heard or felt. But, even then they don’t always know exactly how they did what they did to be successful. It’s true in my own practicing. I don’t always know how the magic happens either.

And, that may be the point. The magic happens when we let go and get out of the way—when our senses and our heart are all working in sync. We know we achieved something beyond ourselves and when we do it once, for even a single beat, we are motivated to push ourselves to do so again and again.

And, that is, I believe, the true lesson.
